He will tell you that the two can be prescribed together. Would he be willing to write the Xanax script? Go see your psych with someone who lives with you or someone that would accompany you. There will be less of a chance the shrink will tell you something untrue. Explain how bad everything is going for you.

Tell him the pain is not controlled without the combo. Tell him the pain doctor had no problem with you receiving the usual dose. Add on that he knew of no law forbidding it.
