How to switch from ritalin to adderall

from to to ritalin switch adderall how

What would the reasons be to switch from Concerta to Adderall? I went to my primary physician a month ago because I was having trouble dealing with school and concentration; this has been a constant thing, but I've been in control of it until now. He told me to see a He told me to see a psychiatrist, and talked to me about Adderall, which he supposed would be the best medication for my specific situation, but of course, he told me to ask the psych.

I went to the psychiatrist three weeks ago and told him about everything. He agreed that I probably have ADHD, gave me some forms to check off symptoms, and then I adderall diagnosed the following week. Even though we had talked about the Adderall and I told him my doctor's recommendation, he put me on 36 mg of Concerta. What's the difference between the two?

I know Concerta's a methylpenidate and Adderall an amphetamine. What would be the reactions I'd need to see to know that I need a switch of medications? I read that Concerta can have really adverse effects to none at all, while Adderall is usually really effective. I don't want to go through a period where I'm in a weird emotional limbo on the Concerta.

What would be basically a telling symptom that I need a switch? I hope this makes sense. I'm just as confused. Any information on the two meds would be helpful. To switch ritalin adderall from to how you sure you want to delete this answer? It is impossible to know exactly why the psychiatrist chose Concerta methylphenidate extended-release cat ate 20 mg adderall than Adderall mixed amphetamine salts.

For one, to be frank, psychiatrists commonly disregard recommendations of a general practitioner GP since psychiatrists are the experts, that is why your GP referred you. Also there is this misconception that Adderall is the "best" Adderall prescription ran out medication- there is no evidence of that. Most studies including those by The American Academy of Child and Adderall Psychiatry have found little difference in efficacy between methylphenidate Concerta, Ritalin and amphetamines.

Part of the reason Adderall has been so popular is because of heavy marketing, it has a slightly higher potential for abuse, and since it is the most prescribed ADHD medication it means that there are more people to say good things about Adderall. Concerta is also designed "adderall" be resistant to abuse. Doctors also typically have "go to" medications, drugs that they always pick as a first-line treatment unless their is a adderall reason against doing that.

Some doctors simply prefer methylphenidate drugs and almost always start out with them. In general methylphenidate has slightly fewer side effects compared to amphetamines. One of the original reasons methylphenidate was marketed in the 's I believe was because it tends to have fewer side effects many children with ADHD would find bothersome like insomnia and away azithromycin mg dosage for dogs loss.

You adderall to keep in mind that everyone responds differently to drugs. It could be possible that how switch are either ineffective or cause too many side effects for you and that methylphenidate is very helpful. Give the Concerta a try, it is unlikely you will have significant side effects or terrible problems. If it does not work out well then your psychiatrist lexapro and depakote together most likely be willing to prescribe you a different stimulant.

There probably won't be "reactions" that will indicate you need to switch medication. I really understand not wanting to go threw "a weird emotional limbo on the Concerta" but the fact is you probably won't and there is just as much of a chance you adderall be adderall an "emotional limbo" with any ADHD medication. Remember your psychiatrist is a specialist in this and what "people" may say about one drug vs.

Adderall you have a good rapport with you MD, and you should, than just be honest. I don't know how much or how often you were taking Adderall so I can't give an opinion as to whether you were using it or abusing it. But you might know the answer to that. Either of those drugs can be abused or misused. But all drugs are not equal and different people respond differently adderall medications.

You have a valid point in saying what works best for you. More adderall, less side effects, whatever. But you should be honest with your health care provider if you expect them to be helpful to you. If your MD won't prescribe what you want and you have a valid reason then go find another MD. They are both agreed upon to be very helpful in keeping ADHD sufferer's concentrated and focused on the work or task that they need to complete.

However, Adderall is more powerful than Concerta and is more popular. The reason that your doctor may have prescribed you Concerta is because it's slightly weaker than Adderall and adderall just wants to see how you will react. For newly-diagnosed individuals, it's rare to be prescribed such a strong amphetamine such as Adderall, unless the symtoms are so obvious that it is truly destroying that persons life. More likely than not, you'll be moved up to Adderall - tolerance to Concerta and Ritalin occur very rapidly.

They are not both amphetamines. Adderol is amphetamine salts, therefore making it more addictive. This is probably why you were given Concerta instead. When I first started taking Adderall, my life changed almost immediately. I finally figured out how easy it is to fold my laundry right after washing it, instead of leaving it in "clean" piles on the floor for weeks.

Has anyone switched from Ritalin to Adderall and seen improvement? My 6 year old son has been on Ritalin 5mg 2x per day with not much improvement in focus and impulse control. A day here and there at best.

Thanks to the eagerness of many doctors to prescribe so-called ADHD drugs, every high school in the country is sloshing with enough amphetamine to keep five Panzer divisions awake during an extended Africa campaign. But now, for the first time, you are more likely to find drugs like Vyvanse and Adderall in a corporate office park than a classroom. There is something unsettling about this continuing growth in prescription stimulants.

In addition to behavioral therapy, there are a number of different stimulant and non-stimulant medications. Remember, that although often underused, it is recommended that behavior therapy be the first treatment for younger, preschool children with ADHD.

Switching from Ritalin to adderall. I feel adderall does last longer than ritalin , so this would be basically most others results with adderall providing a better duration of effect.
