Less than 24 hours ago -- I haven't even gone in for my 24 hour checkup yet. And it was really not that bad. Far less terrifying than it looked I made Ron videotape the entire procedure I'll upload the video later , anyway. My surgery was performed by Dr. Before surgery day, I had two appointments -- a consultation, where they took most of my measurements and instructed me to stop wearing contact lenses for the next three weeks, and a pre-op, where they took my measurements again like three times , gave me extra-strength dilation drops, and told me to stop wearing eye makeup and drinking caffeine. I definitely did one of those things, but I was in the middle of drinking a Diet Coke when I read the instructions about avoiding caffeine. They gave me a prescription for Valium and told me to take one about an hour before my arrival time. I did this and was disappointed that I didn't feel any immediate effects. The point of the Valium was to make me feel less nervous, but I wasn't all that nervous to begin with.

You've decided to take the plunge and start offering surgical procedures in your office. Following the previous article, you have made the appropriate selection of patients and procedures to perform. However, you may find that even the best patients are anxious about procedures performed in the office. In this segment, I will offer some tips on how to anticipate a patient who may have anxiety related to surgery, and how to prevent it so that office-based surgery can be performed successfully. At the end of this article, I will touch on another topic, postoperative nausea and vomiting. The first task is recognizing that patients undergoing any invasive procedure can have anxiety. Before your LASIK procedure, there are no limitations to medications, eating, or drinking, so you can carry on as you normally would. Right before the procedure it is important to eat a light meal and do not come with an empty stomach. Wear comfortable clothing, which includes a sweater or a sweatshirt, as it may get cold in the procedure room. No cologne, perfume, hairspray, or other fragrances should be worn the day of the procedure. You may be asked to wash your face with gentle soap before going into the laser room. If you wear soft contact lenses, they must be kept out of the eye being operated on at least one week prior to the surgery. Gas permeable lenses should be removed three weeks prior to the procedure.

Return to Thinking About It. I can't believe I am planning to get this done because I am someone who deals with panic attacks on a daily basis. In order for me to do it i think I would have to be drugged up on valium. I just want to know, does the valium work to the point where I feel carefree or does it make you feel stoned? I have an image of myself under all that machinery and all of a sudden I freak out and I want them to stop the procedure. I think I will be fine as long as the valium works and the doctors are understanding and will let me take a breather if need be. This anticipation is killing me! I also have high astigmatism and worried whether or not I will qualify for lasik. This is not because of my panic attacks

I recently received an inquiry from one of our clients regarding a practice the physicians want to initiate in their center. Specifically, the physicians believe that the patient would be best served by receiving 0. This would relax them before they arrived in the pre-op area.

He was tall, lanky and tan, but it was hard to see his face because it was half-covered by huge glasses. It was eerily familiar, and I realized I had the female version of that exact same photo. Both of us had ditched the glasses and moved to contacts somewhere around middle school.

Disclaimer — I have no financial interest in Sharpe Vision. I eventually decided to do it this year because so many of my friends and coworkers had done it lately that I felt it was time.
