Hi Robbyn, I'm in the same boat as you, i'm on the generic brand of lexapro for almost 4 weeks now and no difference. I started off for a week on 5mg then went up to 10mg.

I'm due back to the doctor for a review on Monday so hopefully she'll up the dose or put me on something else. My anxiety and fear of death are so debilitating I just want something to work and soon x. I've been on lexapro for a number of years on and off. I'm lexapro is not helping my anxiety down to 5mg and been taking the generic brand for the last couple "anxiety" months as its so much cheaper.

I've also been taking it in conjunction anxiety psychotherapy and counselling the past 5 years. I spoke to a psychiatrist yesterday inHolles St I'm pregnant and is not anxiety my lexapro helping to come off it and she said the 5mg dose is so low, it would have very little effect really, but saying that my anxiety levels are not what they have been previously! I think it works differently for everyone on an individual basis. Im on lexapro too find it greatat the start i took about 6 weeks to work for me anyway.

I was changed to the generic brand a few months ago and it totally didnt work for me in the 6 weeks i was on it how long does lorazepam pill last went downhill so fast!!! Im doing great again now. Personnely found a huge diffrence between the brand and generic. Spoke to my gp today and he has increased me to 10mg per day so hopefully it will work Thanks for all your replies.

I'd go back to your gp I have been on lexapro on and off for years normally 10mg but at my worst I anxiety upped to 15mg not helping 20mg and then when I felt better I went back down. Gp always left two weeks before increasing a dose as if it's going to work it should be showing signs by 2 weeks. So its probably best mixing ambien and sonata talk to gp again.

Robbyn, I saw your post and just had to reply. I was in the same position as yourself, was put on Lexapro by my GP lexapro is not helping my anxiety anxiety. After about a month I felt no different and went back to him - he upped my dose and it STILL didn't make a difference. But the anxiety came back, so I went back to my GP and insisted that he put me on something other than Lexapro. He put me on Sertraline also known as Lustral and I felt significantly better within a matter of days.

That was nearly a year ago and I haven't had panic attacks or bad anxiety increase effects of clonazepam I've accepted that I'm going to be on them for the rest of my life, and so be it! The GP explained to me, that those antidepressants are like the pill - you have to try different types before you get one that suits you and that works for you.

So I'd go back to the doc, anxiety ask to try a different brand. Re the anxiety tablet - it makes absolutely NO difference, it's the same tablet. And re the alcohol, I rarely go over maybe 2 glasses of wine, as I feel it counter-acts the medication. Hope all this makes sense and helps you in some way.
